Bioenergy
Land Use Futures provide a range of strategy and planning services associated with bioenergy planning including:
Supply side analysis of feedstocks i.e. biomass.
Demand side analysis of markets for the bioenergy and other associated outputs.
Selection of facility type e.g. anaerobic digestion, pyrolysis.
Scenario modelling, optioneering and multi-criteria analysis (MCA).
Site selection.
Buffer and precinct planning.
Examples of our work are showcased below.
-
Feedstock analysis
Most areas have a range of feedstocks for generating bioenergy. We can identify the range of feedstocks in an area using a variety of tools including land use analysis.
-
Land use analysis (1)
We can spatially analyse the range, potential quantities and likely availability of feedstocks for bioenergy planning and to assist with site selection.
-
Land use analysis (2)
Analysis of land use and associated biomass yields is undertaken as part of pre-feasibility planning to determine potential bioenergy yields.
-
Bioenergy generation
Bioenergy output can be estimated based on feedstock type and availability to assist facility planning and site selection. This data can be modelled as part of scenario planning and optioneering processes.
-
Demand analysis
Demand analysis is undertaken to ensure supply of bioenergy meets the needs of the potential markets.
-
Site evaluation
Multi-criteria analysis (MCA), scenario modelling and other tools are used to help evaluate suitability of sites for locating bioenergy facilities.
-
Buffer and precinct planning
Buffers are often required to mitigate impacts on adjacent sensitive land uses. We can assist with buffer planning including identifying land uses synergistic to the bioenergy facility and other co-located facilities.
