Services

  • Concept & Pre-feasibility

It all begins with an idea. The concept or pre-feasibility, also referred to as visioning stage, allows you to evaluate alternative scenarios and to develop the business case.

  • Research.

Many of the projects we undertake require an element of research. This may involve identifying data, reviewing relevant literature and other information, best practices, case studies, or undertaking surveys.

  • Analysis.

Analysis informs strategy and planning. It can also help with establishing baselines and benchmarks associated with plan and policy implementation.

  • Spatial analysis.

Spatial analysis is one of the key tools in land use and renewable resources strategy and planning. It may involve simply analysing land use in a particular area or layering this with other information. We have experience in spatial analysis for National through to precinct scale projects.

  • Strategy.

Strategy informs planning and has two primary components. This first may involve something you are trying to move towards. Or it may involve something you are trying to move away from. Ultimately though it should involve both. Our experience extends from State level strategy development through to precinct scale.

  • Planning.

We’ve all heard the old adage ‘If you fail to plan you plan to fail’. Planning and policy is about setting objectives, targets, actions, responsibilities and time frames for getting things done. Planning should be partnered with monitoring implementation and evaluating what is working and what is not and making informed adjustments to the plan.

  • Policies.

Policies, like plans, ensure everyone is ‘singing off the same song sheet’ and help ensure consistent planning and decision making. We have had experience developing a range of policies including State level planning policies, policies and position statements for a water utility and local government policies.

  • Urban & Regional planning.

Land use provides the context for the use of renewable resources and their management. The urban and regional planning system provides the framework for change in land use and resource management. We speak the language of the land use planning system and have a proven record in influencing the land use system to achieve industry and resource management goals.

  • Integrating NRM & Land Use Planning.

Land use influences the use and management of natural resources. Conversely, the availability of resources can influence land use. The land use planning system, as administered by State and local government, influences land use change processes and has the potential to influence how land and natural resources are used and managed. We have experience at all scales influencing land use and natural resource management change processes.

  • Monitoring & evaluation

Did you know that round 40% of projects fail to achieve their intended outcomes? This could be because of poor project design (see our services in Project Management). Once you’ve developed and implemented your plan or policy, how do you know if it’s having the intended impact? We can set up a monitoring framework and undertake evaluation of existing plans and policies which will help inform review processes.

  • Project management

We have considerable expertise designing and managing planning, policy and R&D projects and programs. These have ranged from six month $50K projects to multi year programs running into hundreds of thousands of dollars.

  • Business case development

Business case development for a range of projects including strategy, plan and policy development. We have experience in developing business cases for a range of State and regional scale projects.

  • Precinct planning.

We specialise in planning resource recovery precincts and circular economy precincts. Our experience includes developing the resource recovery planning framework aka Buffertopia for Water Corporation and managing the precinct planning process for the Subiaco Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF).
